Will we stand?

Unity. Division. Which is greater? Will the division of a denomination be its demise? Can unity truly rule once again? Why can't we all just get along? Sadly, there is great division in our Church. It's quite important, however, that we realize that we are all God's children. We're all in the same boat - we're just rowing in different parts of the ocean. Or, as the apostle Paul put it while writing to the Church at Ephesus, we're all members of the same body: We must no longer be children,… Continue

Are you ready?

Life is short. I have been involved in funeral service for many years. If there is one thing I’ve learned it is that this truth holds - life is very fragile. You never ever know when you could breathe your last breath. Have you made preparations for this? I don’t mean just making preparations for your funeral, or for your family’s financial security, or even for your spiritual journey from this life to the next. I mean, what will be remembered about you when your family and friends gather in yo… Continue

You're my sister (or brother) in Christ and I love you, BUT....

God has been moving in my life in an interesting way as of late. Most of you know that I thank God every day for the friends (read: church family) that I have been blessed with. I love them all without condition and always will. They comfort me when I need comforting. They listen to me when I need to be listened to. They laugh with me. They cry with me. The lift me up spiritually in many incomprehensible ways that I will most likely never be able to explain. However, I can't help but notice smal… Continue

Dwelling places

John 14:1-14 My mother always reminded me of this scripture when I was growing up: that Christ went to a place in which there were many “mansions,” and called it His Father’s Kingdom. She was elated with this particular set of verses for more than one reason. She, being one of the most dedicated Christians I know, delights in the fact that her Savior has gone before her to get her particular place ready for when it is her time to join Him in the Kingdom. Second, the idea of a mansion is rather… Continue

Finding Christ... Now we can do this the easy way or the hard way...

For some weeks now, I've been really depressed with my job. I've been resentful of all the massive loads of work that has been placed on me along with unreasonable expectations and having to face down brothers and sisters in Christ who are not quite as intellectually gifted as some others (read: sharp as a soup filled sock). I moan and complain often about the lack of procedure and the the fact that I find myself working well into the wee hours of the morning even after having put in a full 8AM… Continue
